Nak’azdli Alternate Justice Centre (NAJC)

Fort St. James, BC

Zandra Ross has been working with NAJC since 2012. In 2012 and 2013, she conducted a series of workshops during the community’s Crime Prevention week and Springbreak on emotional intelligence, leadership and facilitation. 

Zandra Ross also facilitated a two-day Fort St. James community crime prevention strategy session for the purpose of developing community owned crime prevention strategies. Several of the strategies have been incorporated and new partnerships have developed within the community.

Zandra Ross has been conducting workshops including the Color Code Interpersonal Communication assessment, youth health and wellness and personal leadership (setting a personal vision, determining values and setting personal goals) since then.

BC Cancer Agency

Zandra Ross worked with the BC Cancer Agency in 2011 and 2013 to facilitate the development of a Northern Aboriginal Cancer Care Advisory Committee strategic plan.

Philippines – Canada Environmental and Economic Management Project

(funded by Canadian International Development Agency)

Zandra Ross travelled to Davao City, Mindanao for one month to support the organization to engage the local Indigenous communities that lived throughout the Talomo-Lipadas watershed in environmental protection. This included meeting with local government officials, cultural and education institutions, corporations and industry, indigenous leadership and local environmental projects i.e. recycling programs.

The end result was a best practices guide for engaging indigenous communities in environmental protection, a workplan for undertaking community driven solutions and an enhanced understanding by all parties of the importance of retaining and utilizing traditional indigenous methods of protecting the watershed in conjunction with contemporary strategies.

Kitsumkalum First Nation

Zandra Ross, in conjunction with Four Directions Management Services Ltd., worked with these communities to develop a community engagement strategy to educate their members about their BC Treaty Commission Agreement in Principle (AIP) prior to community ratification of the AIP.

Zandra Ross provided a six week training package in each community that included:

  • Emotional intelligence
  • Communication skills and conflict resolution
  • Asking the Right Questions
  • Facilitation
  • Public speaking
  • Team development
  • Business writing and note taking skills
  • Time management and personal development

Zandra Ross also provided one-on-one coaching to the individual team members when needed and assisted the community coordinators to develop policies and procedures for managing the entire community engagement process.

McLeod Lake Indian Band

Zandra Ross has been working with the McLeod Lake Indian Band Chief and Council, staff and community members since 2012 providing the following:

  • Chief and Council Governance Training
  • Staff and community teambuilding
  • Workshops (the Color Code, Governance, Effective Leadership, Emotional Intelligence)

Sto:lo Nation Health

Zandra Ross began working with the Sto:lo Nation Health Department in 2016 to complete the following activities:

  • Strategic planning
  • Staff teambuilding
  • Workshops (Communication, the Color Code, Effective Teams)

College of New Caledonia

Prince George

Zandra Ross was honoured to conduct staff teambuilding with the College of New Caledonia Student Service Department in 2016 and the Executive Academic Team in 2018.
